Doctoral research centered on fish environmental and thermal stress physiology within controlled recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to enhance sustainable production and animal welfare.

Core Focus Areas

Thermal & Environmental Stress: Evaluating physiological and behavioral responses under fluctuating abiotic parameters.

Oxidative Biomarkers & Histopathology: Analyzing molecular and cellular pathways to assess cellular health and tissue alterations.

Nutritional Prophylactics: Developing targeted dietary strategies and natural antioxidants to optimize metabolic resilience and disease mitigation.

This project evaluated the therapeutic and ameliorative potential of dietary Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) in counteracting sub-lethal zinc sulfate ($\text{ZnSO}_4$) toxicity in juvenile Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Key Methodologies & Outcomes

Biochemical Profiling: Evaluated serum enzymes, total protein, and antioxidant defenses (SOD, CAT, and TAC).

Tissue Histopathology: Conducted renal and muscle microtomy to analyze cellular lesions and tissue recovery.

Toxicity Alleviation: Confirmed that therapeutic supplementation significantly reduces heavy-metal bioaccumulation and accelerates organ healing.

Field-based operational research conducted under the Punjab Fisheries Department development scheme focused on the economic and biological feasibility of cage aquaculture in freshwater reservoirs across the Potohar region.

Operational Scope & Responsibilities

Water Chemistry Telemetry: Monitored real-time water quality parameters including dissolved oxygen, pH, water temperature, hardness, and total ammonia.

Husbandry & Biosecurity: Supervised feeding regimes, fish handling, and surveillance protocols against common parasitic and freshwater pathogens.

Production Metrics: Evaluated feed conversion ratios (FCR) and biological growth data to draft administrative operational assessments.
